The challenge of peak load management<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tennis is a seasonal sport, and with the official opening of courts in April after winter maintenance, traffic to the Tennis and Padel Vlaanderen website surges dramatically. Website clicks can spike from 15 per second to 200 or even 300. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tennis and Padel Vlaanderen database was previously hosted on-premise. With a growing number of members due to the increasing popularity of padel, significant investments in additional hardware licenses would have been required to handle peak loads during the summer season. In the project with Tennis and Padel Vlaanderen, choosing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure was a logical step. Tennis and Padel Flanders has also gained a much more stable platform. We have learned a great deal from this case and have extracted best practices for other clients. For instance, one moment traffic can be low, and then suddenly skyrocket. How do you handle such peaks?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe completely relieve clients like Tennis and Padel Flanders of any operational concerns. They don\u2019t want to worry about infrastructure or CPU overload. During the high season, system load can increase until 10:00 PM\u2014there may be incidents or releases that need attention. Challenges<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Olivier Maurice doesn\u2019t deny that there were challenges along the way: \u201cWe encountered some issues with a database that wasn\u2019t cooperating as expected. Queries behaved differently compared to the old database. Searches that normally took 0.5 seconds suddenly took 10 seconds. We had to fine-tune the new version to get it running efficiently.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
